The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Stand in the gate of the LORD’S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD. 3 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. (Jeremiah 7:1-3) The gate or gates in the bible is of uttermost importance. The gate is the seat of government.

The gate of the city went along with the key of city. Jesus told Peter that he was giving unto him the keys of the kingdom of heaven. In bible days the tabernacle of Moises, the tabernacle of David or the Temple of Solomon represented the throne of God on earth and it´s doors spoke of government.

Today the gates of government from a Biblical perspective are burned down. The gates that are in place are the gates of Gaza, the gate of the prostitute city. There are few that rebuke in the gate and most civil government is lawless. Oh I don´t mean that there are no laws. The United States has more laws on the books then perhaps any country in the history of the world. But they are lawless laws, that is they have become fiat laws and totally humanistic. Yes, yes yes, thank God there are remenants of Biblical law and common law but that is erroding very rapidily.

Why are there so few that stand like Jeremiah in the gates today? Because “they hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly”. (Amos 5:10)
